Sanctions and Compliance (UK, EU, US)

Contact Us

Altop Consult assists clients in navigating complex international sanctions and compliance requirements arising under the regimes of the United Kingdom, the European Union and the United States. Our work focuses on risk identification, practical mitigation measures and documentation to support lawful business conduct.

  1. United Kingdom Sanctions
  2. We advise on the application of UK sanctions legislation, including designations made under the Sanctions and Anti-Money Laundering Act 2018. Our support includes screening counterparties, reviewing transaction structures for sanctions exposure, assessing ownership and control, and preparing materials for internal governance or external legal counsel. Where necessary, we coordinate with specialist UK lawyers regarding licence applications to OFSI.

  3. European Union Sanctions
  4. We assist clients in understanding and managing compliance obligations under EU restrictive measures. This includes reviews of trade and financial prohibitions, sectoral restrictions, asset-freeze risks, and supply-chain exposure across EU member states. Our assessments help clients maintain operational integrity and document their decision-making in line with EU expectations.

  5. United States Sanctions
  6. We support clients in assessing exposure under US sanctions administered by OFAC, with a particular focus on the “50 Percent Rule”, sectoral restrictions, and extraterritorial compliance risks relevant to multinational structures. We help clients identify touchpoints that may trigger US jurisdiction, including US-nexus payments, goods, services or technology. Licensing advice is coordinated with qualified US counsel as required.

  7. General Compliance Support
  8. Altop Consult provides broader compliance assistance across KYC/AML, sanctions screening, source-of-funds reviews and governance documentation. Our work includes developing internal controls suited to the client’s operations, assisting with enhanced due diligence, preparing compliance reports for stakeholders, and supporting regulatory interactions where relevant.

Our objective is to help clients operate with clarity and confidence within the applicable legal frameworks, while ensuring that risk management processes are proportionate, defensible and aligned with best practice.
